Privacy Policy

Uloom-e-Deen — Last updated: September 19, 2026
Summary: Uloom-e-Deen is an Islamic reference and utility app (Quran, Hadith, Prayer Alarm, Qibla Compass). We do not have user accounts, logins, or an admin panel. We collect only what is needed to answer your questions (name, email, WhatsApp number, and your message) and, only if you use those specific tools, your device location and compass/motion sensors for Prayer Alarm and Qibla Compass. The app may display ads through Google AdMob to help support the Portal; we do not sell your personal data to advertisers or anyone else.

1Information We Collect

Uloom-e-Deen does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any credentials. We only collect information you voluntarily submit when you use our Contact Form or Ask-a-Question form:

FieldWhy we ask
Full NameSo we can address you when replying
Email AddressKept on file for necessary follow-up only; not used for marketing
Mobile / WhatsApp NumberTo send you our reply directly on WhatsApp
Your Message / QuestionThe actual query or Hadith reference you're asking about

If you register for our Online Quran Classes (Noorani Qaida, Nazra, or Tajweed lessons), a separate registration form collects your Name, Age, Subject choice, Preferred Class Time, WhatsApp Number, and Telegram username (optional). This information is saved securely to our database (Supabase) so our team can follow up with you, and may also be sent as a pre-filled message via WhatsApp or email if you choose to use those contact buttons.

We do not knowingly collect passwords, payment information, government IDs, or any other sensitive personal data through these forms.

2Location Data & Device Sensors

Some features are location- and sensor-aware. These only activate if you grant permission, and you can deny or revoke access at any time from your device settings.

Prayer Alarm

If you enable Prayer Alarm, we request your device's GPS location to calculate accurate prayer (Salah) timings for your city, and reverse-geocode your coordinates into a city name for display. This location is used only on your device to fetch timings from a third-party prayer-times API (see below) — we do not store your location on our servers.

Qibla Compass

If you enable the Qibla Compass, we request your device's location (to calculate the direction/bearing to the Kaaba) and access to your device's compass/motion/orientation sensors (to rotate the needle as you move your phone). This data is processed entirely on your device in real time and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.

3Third-Party Services We Use

To provide our features, parts of your data or device requests pass through the following trusted third-party service providers that touch personal, location, or device data. (We also use Cloudflare R2 to deliver Quran audio and images inside the app — this is a content-delivery service only and does not receive or process any of your personal data.) We do not sell your data to any of these providers. Google AdMob (see Section 8, Advertising) is the only provider below that is used to show ads.

Google AdMobDisplays in-app advertising to help support the Portal (see Section 8 for details)Google Advertising ID, device/app info, and general (non-precise) location for ad delivery

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data in transit.

4Notifications & Prayer Alarms

To make sure your Azan / Prayer Alarm rings on time, the app requests a few Android permissions: posting notifications, scheduling exact alarms, showing a full-screen alarm reminder, keeping the device briefly awake (wake lock) to play the Azan sound, and restarting your scheduled alarms automatically after your phone reboots. We also ask, optionally, to be excluded from battery optimization so the alarm isn't silently delayed or skipped by the system.

All of this runs locally on your device to schedule and trigger the alarm — no alarm or notification data is sent to our servers.

5Data Stored On Your Device

So the app works smoothly and offline, some content and preferences are saved directly on your device rather than on our servers, including:

This on-device data stays on your phone, is not visible to us directly, and is removed if you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.

6Data Retention & Deletion

Contact form submissions, Ask-a-Question messages, and Online Quran Class registrations (name, email/phone, WhatsApp number, message, or class details) are kept only for as long as necessary for our team to review and follow up with you (for example, to move the conversation to WhatsApp), and are deleted from our systems within approximately one week of submission.

Location and sensor data used for Prayer Alarm and Qibla Compass are processed live on your device and are not retained by us at all — they are used only for that session's calculation.

7How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your information to data brokers, and do not share it with any third party beyond the service providers listed above who are strictly necessary to operate and support the app.

8Advertising

Uloom-e-Deen uses Google AdMob to display a small, non-intrusive banner ad, which helps support the free upkeep of this Portal. AdMob may use your device's Advertising ID and general (non-precise) location to help deliver and measure ads, in line with Google's own privacy policy.

Because our Online Quran Classes and other content are used by people of all ages, including children, we configure AdMob to serve only family-friendly, "General Audiences" rated ads, and we have blocked sensitive ad categories (such as dating, gambling, alcohol, and adult content) from appearing anywhere in the app. Where a child is known to be using the app, ads are shown without personalised/interest-based targeting, in line with Google Play's Families Policy and applicable child-privacy laws (e.g. COPPA).

We do not control which specific ads AdMob serves at any given moment, and we do not receive or store the personal information of anyone who views or clicks an ad. You can reset or limit your device's Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation altogether, at any time from your Android device's Privacy/Ads settings (see Section 11, Your Rights & Choices).

9Data Security

We use industry-standard providers (Supabase, Cloudflare, Google Firebase) with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for all data submitted through our forms. While no system can guarantee absolute security, we take reasonable technical measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

10Children's Privacy

Uloom-e-Deen's Online Quran Classes (Noorani Qaida, Nazra, and Tajweed) are open to students of all ages, including children. Registration for these classes should be completed by, or with the knowledge and consent of, a parent or guardian, who will be the point of contact on WhatsApp for scheduling and updates.

Quran classes are conducted via WhatsApp video call, and we encourage a parent or guardian to remain present or aware during a child's class sessions. We collect only the class-registration details described in Section 1 (name, age, subject, preferred time, and contact number) — no other personal information is knowingly collected from children.

If you are a parent or guardian and would like to review, update, or delete information submitted on behalf of your child, please contact us using the details in Section 13 and we will act on your request promptly.

12Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our app's features evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
